The summer season is beginning to wane, and if you’re anything like us, then you have spent the weekend soaking up as much of the sunshine as you could. This usually lends itself to a fairly harsh reality check come Monday morning, but if you are finding yourself in need of a musical aid to transition into the working week, then look no further than the smooth sounds of London band PREP. Infused with a sun-kissed verve, their debut song, “Cheapest Flight”, proudly walks the roads paved by such proponents of the acid-jazz movement as Jamiroquai and The Brand New Heavies. The musical structure they employ is loose yet purposeful, and it allows their vocals and musicianship to truly shine—especially the horn-fueled third act. All of these elements coalesce into a listening experience that is a sheer delight, and we are sure that it will continue well into their promising young career as a whole.
