When it comes to balancing intricacy and listenability, very few are as meticulous as electronic maestro Imagined Herbal Flows, who injects his mellowed buoyancy into Poppy Ajudha's soul-heavy number "David's Song" here. The original track is a vocal-centered one, with Ajudha delivering raw, nostalgia-inducing lyrics that are certainly refreshing for fans of vintage soul and R&B. Today, however, it's Ben Gorvine's (Herbal Flows) revamp we're concerned with, as the rejuvenating character it possesses emerges from the very beginning and draws us wholly in. From jazz licks, to the soft hums of Ajudha, Flows blends several layers of electronic into the sifted vocals, and, as a result, is able to come up with a delicate-sounding, serene piece of work that more than does justice to the original.
