With an obvious intent to send forth some pretty frolic vibes, Missouri-based talent Poly Pines more than proves a point on recent track "The Forest". Chillwave as a genre—the predominant sound utilized here—has been flooding electronic of late, but Pines' freshest work to date shows of promise with an enthusiastic ingenuity being the muscling force of it all. The title track of his most recent EP, "The Forest" is a piece that comes bursting in with sunlit saw waves and crafty sample work that gives off an ideally sunlit tone. Poly is also quite inventive with the structure of the track, employing flutes and arpeggios appropriately, and his overall idea for the body of work—the chronicling of a forest's journey through the horrors of deforestation, as he says—is portrayed absolutely fantastically here.
