PLAZA came on at the beginning of the year as a mysterious R&B newcomer with a dense, deep, and extremely downtempo sound. It was equally smooth, sultry, and seductive, too, and comparisons to other Torontonian R&B singers like The Weeknd came about as a result. Rather than inhibit his artistic scope, however, the name-dropping has seemed only to motivate the up-and-comer, as we now see the conclusion of his debut EP, ONE, with a number titled "HOLD UP". As with every track PLAZA's released thus far, "HOLD UP" wastes no time in setting a nighttime mood, and, only seconds in, his unmistakable sleekness returns. There's a slightly more muffled tone throughout this new piece here, but we dig it, and we hope he continues experimenting slightly with what future ones he has to reveal.
