Some people certainly live in the considerable past when it comes to funk, while others open-mindedly wallow in the refashioned, electronic impression of the zestful genre—and yet another camouflaged Australian beatmaker named Pipe Down Chachi (some name, huh?) exudes utter ebullience through a distinct blend of both with his own electronic, soul, and funk as seen on his remix of Mansionair’s “Hold Me Down” and an unchaperoned piece entitled "Holiday". Chachi is completely unknown at this point, and that more than astounds us, considering the fact that his work has been totally sheltered for over six months with an incredibly small amounts of plays. On his first-ever remix, the Sydney-based virtuoso seemed to have taken a massive liking to Mansionair’s work, and besides that, knowing that the duo (Mansionair) resides in the same area as him definitely propelled Chachi to make a rather flamboyant renovation of the original gem. "Holiday", meanwhile is a more recent effort of his, and it very obviously exemplifies his growth as a producer, particularly due to the boldness portrayed through his unending mountain of sonic layers, but also to the elite mixing of the miscellany of sounds within. Recognizable chords from "Hold Me Down" inaugurate the aforementioned revamp, and soon after, the sound of a slowly perforating trumpet synth will have you promptly immersed. As the strings complement the preface ideally, too, the sweeping introduction of the drums wholly heighten the caliber of the track. The spellbinding vocals enter concurrently with the nostalgia-filled drop, and inclusions such as arpeggiated synths, emphatic trumpet riffs, and clap-heavy drum sequences smoothly find their way in, inspiring a rather perennial aura throughout while managing to retain some strong future-funk influences. The artful sampling is some of the best you’ll hear—with dexterous harvesting of certain cuts to enhance those vibrant drops—and the elements in tandem are able to give rise to quite an unconventional take on electronic-funk as a whole. "Holiday" is slightly contrasting to the previous piece, due to the integrated characteristics, but the quality is nothing short of superb, as Pipe Down injects some serious vibrancy into the see-sawing number. '80s snares, closed hat rolls, and high-pitched vocals are prominent on the cut, and as they're continually decorated by galactic and saw-like synths, the result is almost too hard to decipher. What also emerges on the piece is the Australian's ability to stack sounds at an incredible pace, and also the meticulous execution of each component, which further prompts us to scratch out heads in awe and wonder why no one's stumbled upon him yet. Pipe Down Chachi (we can get used to seeing and saying his name) is, without a doubt, a beatmaker to have your eyes and ears peeled for, and though our introduction here only covers two songs of his (ordinarily in such pieces we'd share at least three tracks), we're sure he'll find himself featured here plenty of times if and when he carries on in this truly remarkable fashion.
