Month-old gem “Emanate” needs no preface at all, but when artists like Turtle decide to touch up the staggering piece, our initial judgement is more than optimistic. It’s already established that Phoria’s work should be dealt with delicately, and in this case, they’ve found the right producer breathing new life into their work, as Jon Cooper’s (Turtle) signature downtempo-galvanized character gives the piece a distinct progression you wouldn’t expect. The lucid vocals are certainly the fulcrum of the remix, however, and Jon lets them exercise with plenty of room. Cinematic synth work add a supernatural identity to the vocals, and the arcane humming slides in superbly to give the drums an ideal environment to maneuver through. An unearthly vibe is emitted, really summarizing Cooper’s sheer sonic adeptness as a whole, and it gives us another reason to fall in love with the enrapturing original all over again.
