What up Hillydilly.com! This is Lowes - some of you on here will know me, some not. I'm proud to be the new contributing writer to one of the best music blogs currently working to spread the word of all the amazing music out there. I've known Hilly since high school and have shared his love of music since I heard my first Raffi album. Thankfully my taste in music has evolved since then (mostly). I have a huge respect for the music on this site, and I hope you'll all enjoy my selections as much as I've enjoyed Hilly's for the past four years. The first album I want to review is Nightlife, a low-key EP by the American indie duo Phantogram that dropped back in November and did not receive even a quarter of the attention it deserved. Outkast's Big Boi is a huge fan of these guys, and after just one listen it's easy to see why. Their beats hit with lots of rhythm, swirling guitars and spacey keyboards, while Sarah Barthel's airy vocals echo beautifully in, around and over the melodies. "Don't Stop" is the first single and the clear standout, but "16 years", "Make a Fist" and "Nightlife" are solid as well. This EP is definitely worth your time, so check it out on iTunes now.
