Peter Lyons is a name that may ring a bell or two as he was recently featured with Chloe Martini on the sophisticated and savvy track, "Our Time", and now, the Londoner returns covering Michael Jackson's 1982 classic, "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)". There is always an overwhelming challenge surrounding any Michael Jackson cover; it has to be dealt with deftly, paying homage to the original whilst simultaneously bringing something new and refreshing to the track. To this end, Lyon's offering is extremely satisfying. The instrumental behind is tasteful and minimalistic, allowing Lyon to power the song forward with a powerful vocal performance, whilst preserving the original flirtatious charm of the song. The gospel choir supporting the slowed-down beat is a delicate touch that adds another impressive dimension to the track. "P.Y.T." has seen its fair share of covers and samplings with users ranging from Kanye West to Snowblink, and now, Peter Lyon can add his name to the list of musicians who have brought something unique to the Michael Jackson experience.
