Ever since that tear-jerking Budweiser Superbowl ad, Passenger has blossomed into an international superstar, almost entirely as a result of his emotive tune, "Let Her Go". Not to be misjudged as a one-trick pony, the UK singer had been busy working on his new album, Whispers, afterwards, and now with it in our grasp, we see that there are more than a few gems on it compliments his artistic craftsmanship. The first song to catch our ear on the album is "Coins In A Fountain", a soft, acoustic ballad with a mellow bongo rhythm, emotive strings, guitar plucks, piano chords, and blissful melodies. The effort is narrated by Passenger's extraordinary vocals, of course, which are sure to please anyone that is fond of his previous releases. Our second favorite song, "Riding To New York", appears as the album is winding down, and its placid vibe fits accordingly. This time, Passenger embraces an even more stripped-down sound; the beginning of the track consists of nothing more than acoustic guitar, soft piano chords, and a sparse kick. However, the work grows in complexity as it progresses, as layers of melancholic strings and choir vocals appear alongside each another.
