When several talented musicians decide to join forces and create an EP, we never know exactly how it will turn out, since different styles don't always mesh well. However, there are times when the chemistry is exactly right, and here with Byron Bay's Parcels, a collaborative project between five well-experienced musicians, that's the case. It turns out that we've actually already posted a few of the artists within in the past (Louie and Patrick, Potato Potato), but in Clockscared, the debut EP from the newly minted five-piece, we get the privilege of hearing how multiple different styles can blend in the best possible way. Throughout the body of work, you should be able to recognize the influence of '80s funk, '90s hip-hop, and modern electronic with sprinkles of classical and jazz included for good measure. As you can probably tell by their eclectic range of genres, Parcels have created a project very unique with an extraordinary sound to boot, and we'd recommend throwing it on without hesitation when you're looking to relax for just a little bit. From the groovy, upbeat sounds of "Loretta", to the soft, soothing vibe of "Clockscared", the guys never fail to embrace their highly distinctive style, and their efforts surely have resulted in one excellent first EP.
