The now defunct Norwegian hip-hop group Paperboys, were one of the best under-the-radar groups in European hip-hop from 2002-2009. Sadly the group no longer releases music anymore but that's not stopping us from re-visiting them today. (You can bet we will continue to un-earth their music on the 'Throwback Tuesday' posts) "Riot" was taken from their 'best of' album, So Far So Good, that was released back in 2006. The only reason I was able to come by this song was because back in 2006 when I was backpacking through Europe I made sure that I caught them live. It was in Oslo at the Blå Jazzklub and I will never forget it because I used my leverage being a Canadian based fan to get their attention. Needless to say, it definitely blew them away that someone from Canada was at their show in Oslo. Long story short, me and my GF at the time, ended up crashing at their place because we planned to stay up all night in order to save some cash, so the guys kindly offered us to stay at there place. If you have ever been to Oslo with Canadian $, you will understand. That night we chopped it up for a few hours and before we left they gave me an advance copy of So Far So Good, which contained Riot on it. If you were to ever ask me in an interview where I got my motivation to start this music blog, I would trace it back to wanting people to hear artists like Paperboys, who really deserved an international spotlight.
