Pamina

Together ft. Scha

If you're a sucker for bass-infused electronic, and also enjoy that bit of downtempo flair that's come to coat a lot of recent releases within the genre, Pamina's "When We Were Young" is going to be your jam. It's the title track from the French production duo's latest EP, and it shines in a most intriguing light with its delicately dense and highly experimental atmosphere. The individuals behind the beat flower the track with starry keys, synths, and instrumentations throughout, but their ingenuity never gets out of hand, ensuring accessibility for those with mild interest in the soundscapes they construct. Bordelais singer Scha's light vocals meander through the music, too, giving a bit of purification to the haziness the instrumental presents, as well as a feministic balancing to the largely muscular track. It was an intelligent move on Pamina's behalf to have her presence on the effort, and one that contributed to it being our favorite from the rest of the EP, certainly. The rest of their Lost Tribe Record-released project is nothing to ignore, though, and we encourage you to stream it all on SoundCloud and consider purchasing on Bandcamp.
