Good debuts are always promising, but unless they're followed up strongly, they can definitely lose their significance. Fortunately, we've seen dozens of impressive debuts this year, and, better yet, we've seen a decent amount of them turn into artists appearing back onto HD. We're pleased to announce, too, that joining this elite group of up-and-comers is the Brighton-based duo, Oslo Parks. The duo stormed onto our radar about a month ago with their debut track, "Twin", and now they're back with an equally good, arguably better song in the form of "The Night". Oslo's first effort was an upbeat, eclectic, heavily layered jam that floated around the alternative-disco-pop realms, and their new single possesses many of these qualities as well. A pumping beat paired with an impressive bassline forms the track's foundation, and that's then covered with shimmering synths, additional percussion, and plenty of unique nuances that really make the song stick. The vocalist carries the song brilliantly with smooth croon through the verses, and their subsequent transformation into a dance-inciting falsetto during the chorus gets us. Although we definitely had a good feeling about these guys when their initial effort surfaced, we're especially on their bandwagon now since they're releasing their material through the London tastemaker, X Novo, who you might remember bringing us Phoria's absolutely phenomenal Display EP. To be fair, we never really know how good an act is until their follow-up song, but it's safe to say that with "The Night", Oslo has washed away any lingering doubts. Purchase "The Night" on iTunes.
