It's hard not to get excited about a new Osca track, and ever since we heard "Blood" way back when, we've been hooked on the UK four-piece and their commitment to quality music. "Trumpet" is the latest and possibly greatest release from the guys, and even though past tracks like "Around The Bends" and "Illume" are strong offerings in their own right, this song has a quiet power to it that just oozes grandeur. All the rough edges have been filtered out, and what you're left with is a gigantic track wrapped in a sonic fuzz that makes "Trumpet" feel like a sleeping giant just waiting to wake up. And while it never truly does wake up, there's no reason to be disappointed, because it's safe to say that was never their intention anyway. The real magic in this track is the way they just let that potential energy stew away under folds of silky-smooth synth layers and faded beats. Ironically, "Trumpet" doesn't seem to have any trumpets in the composition, but that's nothing to complain about, because Osca has struck gold yet again. They've managed to pump out four original tracks in the span of a couple months with an unreal amount of consistency, and if we had to bet, we'd feel pretty safe saying their debut EP, Blood, will have a very long shelf life amongst listeners. Just like the rest of their catalog, "Trumpet" is infinitely repayable, and it'll have no problem standing the test of time as other acts fade and crack under the pressure of constantly shifting genre inclinations.
