Oliver is a duo comprised of famed Vancouver electronic music veteran, U-Tern, and his Californian counterpart, Oligee. They just dropped their 4-track 'Mechanical' EP on Fool's Gold and while the first 3 tracks are good, but far from game changing, the last and title track provided an extremely pleasant surprise. It'll leave you wondering if there may be perhaps a touch of French in their bloodlines as it is very reminiscent of a Kavinsky (a la Drive Soundtrack, if you need a hint) or Danger. For the same reason that Kavinsky's Nightcall was chosen for the Drive soundtrack, this is a track that sounds like a late summer night in the 80's, cruising down an oceanside highway after having completed an epic journey.
