It’s become clear from past releases that New York songstress OKAY KAYA has a firm grasp on eliciting emotion from her downtempo tracks, and now, her intuition and soft-flowing voice have led her to make a soothing rework of 1964 gospel track “Keep On Pushing” from The Impressions, which we'd say she's done quite well. With the aid of producer Adult Jazz, KAYA's here recreated an impressive soul-touched cover that speaks to her emotional intentions (which, as she relayed to The FADER, parallel those of the group she’s covering here). It glistens in both tonal and lyrical respects, and we're loving how her vocals are shown in a more upbeat, slightly more playful light. [via The FADER]
