"OKAY KAYA" is the stage name for New Jersey-born, Norwegian-raised, and now New York-based artist Kaya Wilkins, and we think that she'll be turning some heads with her unique brand of spacious, downtempo pop. In an interview with Pigeons & Planes, Kaya discussed her musical upbringing playing guitar in her brother’s death metal band, and that it wasn't until her move to New York City that she began to write her own music. Her ambition has been a fantastic one, and on the back of one solid effort already, Kaya's released her latest single through her newly signed label Hot Charity. The single in question, “Damn, Gravity”, mines the same fertile soil found within her former track, and it has a musical composition that's equal parts nostalgia and broodingly whimsical. What Kaya has crafted is an intriguing melodic vista that is both captivating and refreshing, and one we find ourselves quite happily lost within.
