With Okapii being from Copenhagen, the duo could have simply channeled their inspiration from their immediate surroundings and been completely fine. But where Mads Oustrup and Alexandra Rita Bramsen take a leap up on most is with their musical influences that take some guidance from vast and spiritual regions of West Africa. What's leftover from the sonic eccentricity is an intermixing of quirky pop with just a bit of jazz, and, as we alluded to above, some West African percussive flair. "Gattu" is their shinning example of how great their sound is, but it's only the second track they've ever released, so let's hope more music comes from this duo sooner rather than later.
