Oh Wonder

The Rain

We all know Oh Wonder's deal by now: one released track per month at the beginning of each culminating in an album release this coming September. We also know that every released effort of theirs thus far (there have been four of them in all) has been pure quality, pure listening pleasure, and an absolute treat to listen to. We can count on our hands how many acts and artists have and still maintain a perfect release record with us (meaning we've posted everything they've ever put out), and this wonderful London pair is one of those select few. That's the power of the kind of patience and persistence the two have so miraculously employed. Today happens to be a special first of the month, but regardless the holiday, Oh Wonder is at work by way of releasing their fifth track entitled "The Rain". It's an effort that sitting at the softer edge of their artistic spectrum (at least, for the first and last bits of the track), and its simultaneously yearning and hopeful characteristics give it a more accessibly emotive feel that we really appreciate. Of course, the duo's splendid harmonies are still intact throughout, sincerity lines the gist of their vocal and instrumental contributions, and some nice brass inclusions come out toward the end of the effort, too, but we've come to expect such wonderful things from the artists. This sparse but emotionally substantial track of theirs only furthers our affection for them, and there's no doubt in our mind that it'll see it's share of plays, posts, and sonic interpretations in the coming days, weeks, and months.
