It'd be easy to dismiss Oh Wonder members Anthony and Josephine as creative monotones or absent of musical dynamism, but to do so would be to miss entirely the point of their work. Yes, understated production and intensely emotional lyrics have come to characterize pretty much every single release of theirs we've heard, but understand that Oh Wonder project as a whole started off merely as a foray into their writing expertise—an experimentation of sorts. It was not believed to become what it now is today, but, alas, look at what sonic concreteness can get. There's not much left to cover, musically, as far as the two new cuts from the project are concerned. They're as intimate and pleasing to the ear as the efforts of theirs we've come across before, and they keep with the tender dynamic that they've become well known for. It is truly remarkable to have as cohesive and heartfelt a project as Oh Wonder has put together with their debut self-titled one here, and, perceived monotony be damned, we hope that they continue with their inspirational ways as far into the future as they possibly can.
