If there’s one place where quality prevails over catchy, it’s here on HD, and with British band Nothing But Thieves’ “Tempt You (Evocatio)”, we’ve a prime example of a track that doesn't scratch and claw for our attention, yet is simply excellent and attractive on its own accord. There’s a certain aura that’s potent in "Tempt You" that we can only feel from a select few other artists (Alt-J and Chet Faker come immediately to mind), and we applaud the band’s ability to grace us with such high quality sounds while paving the path toward their own lighthearted niche. At the start, reverbed piano and a murmuring synth back the soothing, vibrato-filled voice of lead vocalist Conor, and the latter half of the track sees percussion kicking in full to bring the track to to life. “Tempt You” is the first release following the band’s debut EP, Graveyard Whistling, and we’ve included the title track from that one below (it’s an equally enjoyable offering). The EP itself is available for download from the band’s website, and after a listen to “Tempt You”, we're willing to bet you’ll make your next stop there to pick it up.
