NoMBe — AtoZ ft. Durqa

NoMBe

AtoZ ft. Durqa

It didn't take long for NoMBe to impress us with his totally unique sound. The Los Angeles-via-Germany act started off as a producer who went by "RookieTheCook", and though he's spent years whipping up some delectable beats under the moniker, we didn't discover him until about half a year ago when he released his debut single, "Seminole", under his new name. The unconventional, intriguing track sparked a decent buzz around him, and he released two more singles, "Waves" and "Vowels", which have furthered his hype. Now, following the appropriate release pattern of a new artist, NoMBe is letting loose his EP, Change Of Hearts, and it's a remarkably strong debut effort. There are two new songs on the project, the first of which is a synth-laden, electronically gilded, smoothly executed piece, "Change Of Hearts". NoMBe effortlessly harmonizes with Winslow Bright, a singer in Sioux Lion, and the result is a soft, stylish sound that we really dig. "AtoZ" is the other new track on the EP, and it's filled with sparse synth bursts, fresh percussion, and NoMBe's seductive croon. Some deep, rough synths make their way into the mix, and ultimately the song is a brilliantly obscure work of danceable electronic. On the latter end of the track, we hear NoMBe lay down a low-key rap verse, and in doing so, he reveals another angle of his sound that we'd love to get the chance to hear more of. Change Of Hearts is an exceptional debut EP all around, but our favorite quality it possesses might be how different it is. Not only is each song completely unique from one another, but every track actually stands apart from pretty much anything that we're hearing currently. This is not an easy feat to accomplish in today's music world, so hats off to NoMBe for excelling both production-wise and vocally on his debut project.
