Nick Hakim has been on a hot streak for some time now, and today, we've another of his releases to share. The man's been trickle-feeding his two-part EP for awhile, and ever since "Pour Another" released, the HD feed has been littered with his work. If the frequency of our coverage is starting to wear on you, however, you clearly haven't been listening to his music, because pretty much everything he's dropped thus far has been magic. Even the most pop-crazy music junkies have connected with his work, and we haven't found one person yet who wouldn't admit that Nick's tunes are, at the very least, technically superior to most of the contemporaries. Where We Will Go Pt. 2 is no exception, and its meandering composition will lull you into a stupor that's part-hypnotic, part-audio bliss. Although this new crop of tracks bears a lot of resemblance to his past catalog, there's plenty of new things to get excited about too. On "Sleep", there's a lot of organ work floating around in the background, and maybe it's just because of the similar instrumentation, but it almost feels like he's got Jimmy Smith to sit in the back of the room during the recording session and just let him go to town on the track. It's an awesome sonic coalescence that results, and the adjoining tempo really works with the melancholy angle that's taken. The next new song, "Heaven" is stripped down to the absolute max, but Nick still knocks the effort out of the park. Where other artists would be at risk sounding self-indulgent or too fringe, Nick manages to retain his widespread appeal and general likability to the average listener despite the amount of instrumentation behind him. This is an extremely impressive feat—something almost impossible to replicate if it's not inherently part of one's repertoire of skills—but of course, Nick's them in spades, and he's able to do as he pleases over all sound he's to work with. We've already covered the other two tracks on the project, "I don't Know" and "Life Me Up", but if you haven't listened to them yet, you should probably do so.
