Our first taste of Nick Hakim’s “The Light” came a few months back with the release of his debut EP, Where We Will Go Pt. 1, which, as a whole, impressed us greatly, and now we’ve a video for the aforementioned track that adds a visual component to Hakim’s wonder. While flipping back and forth between an 8mm film look and contemporary animated sequences, the visuals for “The Light” are both dreamy and creative. The entirety of the work is set outdoors, though many chroma-keyed scenes are intact that place Hakim over surreal animated backdrops. The overall effort is one that seems to be multifaceted, and it truly is on point with its ability to match the downtempo pace of the audio, as slow and smooth shots flow gracefully alongside the ethereal notes provided by Hakim. The majesty of the landscapes sparks inspirational thoughts, and the potent adventurous aura of the video is equally evocative. New York production company Terrence Nance / Terrence Etc. has found a sweet spot here with “The Light” undoubtedly—one we feel when we’ve the matching of audio and visuals of excellent quality.
