Nick Hakim's music reeks of quality. It doesn't have any catchy hooks or mindless sing-along choruses, but it'll win you over with sheer talent and a sound that's both timeless and relevant. We featured his last single, "Pour Another", a few months ago, and despite the fact that the track moved at a very relaxed pace, all you readers (and the rest of the internet, for that matter) instantly latched on to it. With just about 100,000 plays to its name already, Nick has proven that you don't need to dumb your product down to reach the masses, you just have to make it undeniably good. "Cold" follows in the footsteps of its predecessor by reaching unmatched levels of polish with seemingly little effort, and the lounge jazz vibes that start to float from your speakers after you hit play will just blow away contemporary sounds. Nick's voice has the perfect amount of rasp to it to round out the package, and the way he cultivates a sense of understated class with a relatively stripped-down composition can be chill-inducing at times. With only three official tracks out right now, and not a whole lot of information about his future plans, it's obvious Nick is playing his cards close to the chest at the moment, but we'll be watching closely as he continues to put out material, and we'll have our fingers crossed for a full-length release date in the near future.
