Despite its staggeringly high population, we don't see a lot of universally appealing music surface from India. Perhaps that's our fault for not looking hard enough through the aural offerings of the land—or maybe there's truly not that much music being made there that please international ears—but either way, we're very blessed to have stumbled upon visionary Mumbai singer-songwriter and electronic artist Nicholson and his yesterday-released EP, Cold Water. It has only three tracks on it, sure, but they're all wondrously soft and emotionally alleviating—traits bidding the body of work very well given today's opposing, ubiquitous, and often obnoxious climate of loud sounds, big drops, senseless hype, and all that jazz. Nicholson's not concerned with all that; rather, as we see in a description about him, he's intent on blending "electronic and organic sounds" as a "direct reflection of his outlook on life and love". That's no sentiment unfamiliar to us, to be fair, but his delicate artistry is something we absolutely cherish. The music—assisted on the production end by his own brother, as it turns out—is the necessary result of his efforts, and we absolutely encourage you to soak it at your earliest opportunity.
