It appears as if "The Sound" came out over a year ago, but because we just recently came across it (and also because we love the sound of it [yes, that's a pun]), we're sharing it with you today. It's one of only a handful of tracks the Australian has put out, appearing on her Daylight Disguise EP also released a year ago; and, as far as we can tell, the singer-songwriter hasn't put out anything for months. We're not sure why that is, exactly, but a bustling background of hers may have a bit to say about it. Neda (Croatian for "born on a Sunday") was raised on a plantation in Carnavaron, Australia, a costal town situated 900 kilometers north of newfound musical hotspot, Perth, and moved north as a teenager. While relocated, she became involved in the train industry, assuming single-handed operations of some that would stretch for kilometers and weigh thousands of tons when all loaded up. It was pay for the free-spirit, but that's not all she sought. Having wrestled with closeted musical interests, it took until her boredom one day while waiting for her mother to finish work that she decided to write her first song. Amazingly, the inspiration took off, and Neda encouraged herself to make more. She continued driving trains on the side, but was faced with the kind of ultimatum we all can relate to: work all day for a wage, or divided up the time and attention for serious outside endeavors, too. Neda chose the later route, packed her bags, and tripped again, this time to Sydney. The aforementioned Daylight Disguise came about after this decision of hers, after her having been spotted by Island Records, and since, her creative journey has been meandering alongside her day job working still with locomotives. Fast-forward to the here and the now, though, to "The Sound" highlighted on this very page, and tell yourself that you're not iching for more from the songstress. The fiercely independent roots of the track reflect all that's here been expounded upon, and the countryside vibes oozing out of it aligns amazingly well with the kind of imagery that comes to mind when considering it all. It's a little unfortunate that it's been six months since we've last seen her make a musical mark, but according to information on her social media pages, it looks like she's gearing up for some future releases. We can only hope that this is the case, because we'd like nothing more than the next chapter of artistic folklore to unfold.
