Watermelon Chicken & Grits was a monumental album back in the early 2000's and shot Nappy Roots to commercial success at a fast rate. It has been a slow decent for the band since WCG and it seems like every time they release a new album we all wonder if Nappy can bring it back. Nappy Roots have never touched WCG with their new efforts but have always had some gems on their albums. In The Pursuit Of Nappyness unfortunately takes on the same trend as previous albums with not much of a feeling of a cohesive high quality album. But when the songs are good you tend to forget about any negatives about the rest of the album because everyone falls in love with Nappy Roots and their country-folk style of hip-hop.
