There seemed to be a breakout R&B star who ruled each of the past few years. Gallant championed 2016, Daniel Caesar stole 2017, and Cautious Clay blew everyone away in 2018. Now, 21-year-old Myles Cameron is making a strong case for 2019's most exciting newcomer in the genre with his debut project, Lonely Suburban Blackboy. The six-track work is a poignant, personal intro to Myles' silky-smooth vocals, but also his principal conflict about "blackness in white spaces" as well. Masterfully produced by Frankis, the collection is sure to convert new listeners into long-term fans, which is possibly the most important thing you can do as a newer artist (especially an independent one).
