Sometimes a song on its surface doesn't seem like it's going to strike a chord with you, but on "No Great Mystery", the first track from Melbourne artist My Own Pet Radio's forthcoming debut album (the project is a solo one of the singer of Ball Park Music), he's managed to make unlikely elements work together great. The track will catch you off-guard with just how well its edgy-sounding guitars, loud drums, and melancholic vocals mix, and, absolutely, there's a real charm that the effort has. It'll take you back some years with the vintage-sounding elements it possesses, and that's why it makes for the solid indie-rock listen that it is.
