Mr jukes is the side project of Bombay Bicycle Club's Jack Steadman, and, if side projects are anything like TV show spin-offs, then this is the Frasier to Bombay Bicycle Club's Cheers. It captures many of the things that so engross people with BBC, yet it carries a separate set of functions and influences as well. On "Tears", featured below, you get the same killer bass and piano flourishes you'd expect from a BBC release, but it veers into more soulful territory with lush vocal contributions from Awful Records' Alexandria. Definitely enjoy the single, and look out for mr jukes' full debut album, God First, out July 14.
