beg [ain't too proud to]

Solo projects are one of the most exciting artistic endeavors a creative individual can undertake. It doesn't matter how they start, it doesn't matter how they came about, and it doesn't even matter entirely where—if anywhere—they end up. They're as organic as they come—often brainchildren inspired by some other, earlier work with others—and as we see here with artist Morgan Karr's cover and first publicly shared work under his name, his is off to an enjoyable and ever-authentic-sounding start. With a take on The Temptations' classic track, "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", Morgan's made his solo creative enterprise known to the world, and on top of doing the original no harm, he's made quite the first impression for himself. His rendition is decidedly more modern-sounding, but it's just as captivating with very present drums, his own very good vocals, and a peculiar combination of bite and smoothness that'll not let you not have an opinion of the track. No matter what you end up thinking about it, though, there's no denying the fact that it's a solid start to the Nashville-born, Los Angeles-residing talent's journey alone.
