With "I Need You", their excellent debut track, Danish alternative duo MORE introduced us to their sweet, melancholic sound. Now with "Sweet" their latest track, we find them exploring the same lovesick themes lyrically and sonically as well. (They have one track between the two, "Without You", which you can listen to through the link.) As their hooks and melodies attest, these two understand that a catch sound does not necessarily equal superficiality. While their warped synths, piano chords, and falsetto vocals certainly recall experimental artists like James Blake and Thom Yorke, MORE's music still has a distinct pop flavor that is anything but a clone. "Sweet" serves up a unique blend of introspection and irresistible melodies that remind us why they are one of 2016's most exciting new acts.
