Mont Jake is a triple threat; he produces, sings, and writes his own music. He excels at all, too, and on his debut EP, Shadow, his talents shine exceptionally. Jake's music is rooted in soul and R&B, but it lingers into the realms of hip-hop and jazz as well. On this three-track project of his, he's Wu-Tang's Masta Killa, who drops a verse on the EP's best track, and he's also Chance The Rapper collaborator Noname, who contributes to the funk-filled "I Had Music". Finally, he's his own solo track, "This Goes Own", which, as you'll find out, shows he can certainly hold his own.
