We're compelled to reiterate the fact that Australians are the front-runners in the sonic sphere, and today, Sydney-based talent MK Grands is here to bolster the claim with his first-ever release entitled “Throne”. Daniel Cartisano (MK Grands) might still be in the early stages of developing his own ilk of falsetto-laced electronic, but his first piece already shows strong signs of a nonpareil sound—particularly due to the enticing progressions within—and the avalanche of emotions precipitated by his stunning vocals don't hurt, either. Floating, long drawn-out chords commence the piece and create a setting for the sultry, stirring vocals of Daniel's dive in, and as the drums unhurriedly progress, the piece matures magnificently. Daniel’s voice is certainly in the limelight for the first half of the gem, but as subtle inclusions slide their way in, his production expertise surfaces. The pirouetting drums kick off a soaring cadence, and as the piece reaches its latter stages, a rather unexpected, heavily blanketed saw synth hoists the piece to another level, engendering a downright stupefying atmosphere. It’s surprising to know that "Throne" is only the first of MK Grands’ efforts to surface, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye and ear out for any future work of his to come, because the quality here expressed is something we'd like to see return.
