So much of 2017 has felt plagiarized from a drawn-out episode of Black Mirror, and, well, this might be the freakiest thing the year has had to offer yet. Miquela is an Instagram sensation with 240,000 followers, and, like the Gorillaz, she is not even real. She's an animated sim character, and "Not Mine" is her character's first attempt at breaking into the music industry in this novel way. Now, "Not Mine", itself, is a pleasant, auto-tune-heavy bit of summer-pop (and R&B) that fits within current musical trends, and, while it may make you pull out the Nick Young confused face GIF when she sings, "I'm just out here living my life", you should still listen to the track below. It's pretty high-quality, and it might foreshadow other, similarly quality releases to come—(wo)manmade or not.
