Minorstep is an electronic producer based out of Athens, Greece, and even though we don't get a ton of music on our doorstep from that neck of the woods, this brand-new track featuring Calvin Markus (of Dead Times) was just too good to pass up. There are a lot of great producers out here who constantly put out fantastic instrumentals, but it's an entirely different animal to craft a song that pairs up well with the vocals it supports. Minorstep has proven himself more than up to the challenge, though, and even when you think he can't possibly top the subtle beauty in that minimalist intro, he surprises with every transition, taking the listener on a slow-jam, jazz-infused ride that doesn't let up until the very end. This is one of those tracks that, for some reason, feels expensive, like it was made to be played in a Bond movie or something. The smouldering rasp in Calvin's voice adds the perfect amount of darkness to the track, and with the pacing as slow as it is, you can't but help get into the mood Minorstep cultivates. Minorstep's latest EP, Weep, was great, but "Blue Light" is in a different league entirely, and will put him right near the top of our up-and-comers watch list.
