Just yesterday we were treated to a preview of the newest track from the current king of somewhat-experimental-experimental garage music, Jamie xx. Now we introduce you to his Greek counterpart, George Kroustallis (Minorstep). Minorstep may not be a completely new name to you as some of his remixes, (his "Retrograde" remix in particular), have received decent coverage. His overall body of work, however, appears to be underrepresented in the blog world. As a producer, Minorstep has embodied a winning combination in that he has great ears for what sounds good, the rare bravery to experiment with slightly strange sounds, and the selectivity to pick beautiful songs to remix. You can't put too much weight on that last criteria as the reason behind his success once you hear his original track "You", though. When "You" was played on BBC Radio, it got the host DJ to remark through slight gleeful giggles, "Sooo feeling this vibe right now", and that sums up our thoughts on Minorstep's music as well.
