We featured Milk & Bone's first single, "New York", here a while ago, so these two ladies are no strangers to the pages of HD, but their new track "Coconut Water" is a bit of a departure from their first song (it's a bit more upbeat), and it's got a nice smooth flow to it that will get you excited about the duo all over again. The production work on the track is decently understated, and the lyrics are simple and straightforward, but that's where these two cultivate the vast majority of the sound's charm. The little pings of bright synth stabs in the background and the handful of plucky guitar notes all settle into a very relaxed single, and you can't help but wander onto some sunny, breezy, and blissful beach setting when you take all the sonic magnificence in. "Coconut Water" is the second installment from Milk & Bone, so they've still got a long ways to go from here if they want to really make it big, but we're of the opinion that there is a large base of fans out there for this stuff just waiting to be tapped, with these two seem primed to make inroads. The ultra-chill pacing of their new effort here is just energetic enough to hold you ears so they don't wander off, and when a band can ride this fine line with any relative level of style, it's almost certain they're going to be met with a very positive critical and consumer response. "Coconut Water", to be sure, would make a beautiful addition to any weekend soundtrack—and would be especially useful if you're looking to freshen up your favorite lazy afternoon playlist—but more than that, it's another excellent chapter in Camille Poliquin and Laurence Lafond-Beaulne's lives as rising artists.
