Mexico City Blondes — Shot the Moon

Mexico City Blondes

Shot the Moon

Mexico City Blondes is still basking in the afterglow of their debut hit, "Fade", but, as all bands must do if they want to achieve long-term success, they've injected a fresh new sound to their next new single here, and it's one that smells of innovation and a willingness to experiment with new song structure. Even the artwork has been worked over. "Shot the Moon", their very single, still does amazing work with a relatively low number of moving parts, but the track is much fuller than its predecessors, and while one might argue that the stripped-down, lo-fi sounds in "Fade" were what made this band such a hit, it's clear that the duo has so much more to offer. Whereas before it was all about the guitar work for MCB, now, synths make a much larger play for dominance in the mix. The chorus takes a deft approach at cultivating an aura of mystery around the lyrics, and if you're in the mood for something a bit more serious, then "Moon" is going to be your new jam for months to come. We're very happy with how these two have taken advantage of all the attention they've received since their aforementioned track came out, and we'll definitely keep you posted on what wonderful works are next from them.
