Enigmatic duo Men Among Boys pique our interest again with another experimental R&B single that is sure to generate more buzz around the London-based project. "PurpleBlack" follows the release of their debut track, “Presence of Men”, just over a month ago, and it's sort of a "song Gemini" in the sense that the duo split their sonic strengths to meet each other evenly in the middle. You can hear the harmony on the clean production, and more obviously, between the high and low vocals working off each other in a spacious, haunting plea. A British PARTYNEXTDOOR vibe is emitted as a result, intertwined with another element of vitality and clout in the production that sobers up the "faded, rich, and lonely" elements often heard on OMO tracks. We’ve been told by Men Among Boys that a full project is set to be released in the next month or so, and if these tracks are any indication of what’s to come on it, these mysterious men (or boys) could be the next big thing(s).
