Memorecks — Trouble (Riggadale Remix)

Memorecks

Trouble (Riggadale Remix)

Memoreck's Trouble EP is, for the most part, molasses slow, but in this case that's much more of a compliment than a complaint. While most producers risk losing their audience when forgoing the energy that comes with a more upbeat pace, Memorecks will have no trouble keeping you listening with rapt attention as his unique production style, filled with all the pent up energy you could ever ask for, dances around Jenna Pemkowski's voice in perfect lock-step. The sounds are vaguely dubstep, but instead of using the notes to create chaos, he's repurposed them to build some of the smoothest builds and drops you've ever heard. In fact, when you listen to "Trouble" and "Eighteen" for the first time, listen carefully, because the track structure is so subtle that you'll be in danger of missing some of the more finessed transitions if you're not paying close attention. The two original mixes on this EP are second-to-none, but since that wasn't enough for this Toronto-based producer, he's curated three killer remixes to go along with it. While all are great in their own right, don't skip over Free n Losh's remix of "Trouble"; it's got all the great pieces that made the original mix so awesome, but it's been smoothed out even more, and has a near-perfect flow.
