Brooklyn native MeLo-X is readying his new project, God:HiFi, and this time he shows a more pensive persona on "The Truth". Self-produced by MeLo, the track features a minimal platform for him to "Keep It Real, spit that Elliott Wil[son]" - and he gets right to work at addressing one of the most powerful institutions at the heart of hip-hop's opposition. The talented producer/artist, obviously influenced by his surroundings, took to music as a more pervasive channel for his outcry at recent events in his East Flatbush hometown. Incorporating an evening news reporter's telecast of recent police brutality, MeLo-X embraces a more somber approach on "The Truth," calling the New York Police Department "pigs" after they killed a teenage boy in his hometown. It's an ode to hip-hop in its purest form - voicing opinions on civil unrest and calling for change.
