MAUSI

Hideaway (Kiesza Cover)

MAUSI has always had a knack for making tracks with optimal levels of funk, and even if their music goes in different directions stylistically, they've always retained that signature groove which makes all their work so infectious. Singles like "Body language" and "M O V E", upon first listen, would probably be shelved under some sort of "synth-pop" category, but upon further investigation, you'll notice there's something mildly vintage about their sound, a subtle injection of class that sets them apart from your average indie-electronic group, allowing them to go a long way towards making sure their music has a lasting impact on fans. "Hideaway" is their latest offering, and it's a Kiesza cover of the very best kind. The aforementioned funk influences are in full effect here, and you're greeted with a track that has much more of a French house vibe to it than their other work. It's flawlessly produced, and it sounds like something the French powerhouse, Madeon, would make after he grew up a bit and delved into the subtler side of dance music. MAUSI has been responsible for some great songs in the last year, but this cover is right up their with their best, displaying their versatility as artists with effortless sonic finesse.
