So often we come across artists and acts that release their debut albums or EPs and then fade forever into obscurity. On top of being highly disappointing, this typically results in a band's breaking up, as we've seen with groups like Pacific Air, whom we've been told has come to its indefinite end. It's a bit puzzling, the reality is, because based on their debut, it was thought that the Los Angeles pair was on their way to a promising career. But be it from a lack of sales, inner disputes, or other issues, life goes on. At times, the music does to, in different forms and fragments of the former entity, and that's what we're seeing here with the solo music of the former lead vocalist Ryan Marshall Lawhon, who just debuted two new tracks in "Game" & "Toxins". If you were a fan of the aforementioned band, there's no question you're going to dig the new sound Ryan's put forth here. His signature vocals are still alive and well (as is the pop-catch factor), but what we're hearing here is a decidedly more energetic sound that's filled with bigger hooks and electronic-based synthesizer-fueled melodies. As our first taste of his new material, too, these tracks have shown immediate promise, and we suspect the buzz that Pacific Air started two years ago will be happily transferred to this new endeavor solo music of Ryan's (Mating Ritual's) moving forward.
