Australia's Mat Cammarano is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, and he's an audio engineer, writer, and producer as well. We see that he used to record in what looks like his parent's laundry room or store, but, this year, he launched Milkman Recordings, a mobile audio production service he says is aimed at bridging the gap between DIY projects and more professionally produced ones. We applaud Mat for the ambitious undertaking, and, if he the kinds of sounds he puts out from it are close to those that we're hearing here with his second track, we'll all be in for some treats. "Ashes" is what second track Mr. Cammarano has put out (his first was released to little fanfare five months ago), and it's got a neat take on the "ashes, ashes, we all fall down" line that we all know from so long ago on it. The overall vibe of the song is indie-rock through and through, but it's got some slight electronic and pop elements in it, too, to give it just enough glint for fans of those genres as well. Regardless how it's classified, though, the effort is a super solid one that deserves to be heard, and we invite you to do just that.
