Marlon Roudette is the former vocalist from Mattafix and this is his solo debut without the production of his other Mattafix half (Preteesh Hirji). For fans of Mattafix the initial concern was how would the production differ, in the good or bad sense, from the amazing production that Preteesh brought to the table on Mattafix's first two albums. My initial reaction is that the production does not stay on par with Preteesh's, it does however hold its own and allows Marlon to continue to make good music. Matter Fixed comes across as a more 'grown' album with piano chord progressions that we find on the lead single "New Age" that sound like a film score from Legends Of The Fall. "The Loss" is another cool new sound for Marlon with that rustic reverb added to his vocals that reminds me of Edward Sharpe. That "New Age" song is the #1 single currently in Germany right now. So yea the guy is big in Germany. Purchase on itunes above.
