Mark Johns is not a guy (her real name's Naomi Abergel), but what she is is on the cusp of blowing significantly up given what vocal talent and cultivated connections she has. The singer is the first signed to the OWSLA label (for those unaware, that's Skrillex's), and, after hearing this brand-new track of hers, it's very, very easy to see why anyone (including him) wants to take a chance on her. With "BTFU (Mommy Issues)", we're given a sweet, smooth-sounding affair, and, as might be expected from the title of the track, it's about a relationship wavering between different attitudinal roles. Her lines reflect—and capture perfectly—all of those sentiments involved, and the glossy production encapsulating them all is pretty incredible, too. "BTFU" is a winner of a track, no doubt, and it serves perfectly as a teaser before her forthcoming, OWSLA-releasing EP comes out. [via The FADER]
