For the most part technology and music go hand in hand. Sometimes however, the relationship is not such a smooth one. Take for example, the famed autotune plugin that terrorized everyone in the mid 2000's (see T-Pain's discography). With the exception of Kanye on 808's, it was always overused & abused. One vocal effect plugin that we have never gotten sick of is the vocalist harmony processor. If you're not sure what that effect sounds like, think Imogen Heap's "Hide & Seek". It's a process that adds in additional harmonics to the vocals through a controller (keyboard, guitar, etc.) to thicken up the vocals giving it that duality of humanity with the inorganic sounds of discordant harmonics. Although Mapei doesn't need any extra vocal effects, on her stunning new single, "Don't Wait", the addition of those modulated effects really gives "Don't Wait" a sense of uniqueness.
