This track isn't going to be winning any awards in the "hardest-hitting" categories, and its creator, Malecka, doesn't seem to be too preoccupied with grabbing your attention at any point in the song. With that said, though, "Colourful" is still a pretty awesome, laid-back track—the kind of music you'd want on when you want to chase away the silence and go about whatever material you have on your agenda for the day. It's a well-made sound, in all fairness, and this French producer based out of Cork, Ireland, seems to know a thing or two about making beats that are both cool, and easy to listen to ("easy" being the especial key word here). They say good design doesn't get in the way, and sometimes that's true for music as well. There's really nothing in "Colourful" that's particularly abrasive or off-kilter, and the end result is that it sort of slides in your inner ear with minimally fanfare, low-key, and extremely enjoyable chilled-out house. There's of course a touch of repetitiveness that lines the track (it is a part of the house genre, after all), but a couple of vocal samples nestle themselves nicely into the mix, giving just enough humanistic flair to ward off fleeting thoughts of sonic monotony. If you find that you're a fan of the track, check out the rest of Malecka's work. "Colourful" is by far one of his coolest songs, and it's probably got the most soul out of any of them, but he brings the same attention to detail and deft composition to his other remixes and originals as he does to the here-highlighted effort, so if you're looking for more chill-out music, then you've just stumbled onto a gold mine.
